- Open Freemora-Setup.exe.
- Windows shows “Windows protected your PC” for new apps that aren’t signed with a paid certificate yet. That’s expected for this beta: click “More info” → “Run anyway”.
- Next → Install → Finish. A Freemora window with a QR code opens. Closed it? Click the Freemora icon next to the clock (hidden? — the ^ arrow).

How to install
- Install Freemora on your computer first. Then get the app on your phone: point the camera at the code on this card, or open this page on the phone.
- Open Freemora.apk. If Android asks, allow installs from your browser — it warns about any app that isn’t from Google Play.
- Open Freemora and scan the QR code on your computer. The app asks for access to photos — that’s how it copies them home.

Short answers
Where do I start — computer or phone?
With the computer: install Freemora and it shows a QR code. Then install the app on your Android phone and scan that code.
Is it really free?
Yes, for one phone. Your photos sit on your own drive, so storage costs us nothing. We’ll earn from Freemora Pro — several phones and family, $9.99 once, no subscription.
Do I have to delete photos from my phone?
No. Freemora only copies — the originals stay on your phone. Freeing up space is a separate, optional step: you see exactly what will be removed and confirm it yourself. The first copy of a big library can take a few hours — after that, new shots go home on their own, usually within an hour.
What if I don’t have a computer?
You need a computer at home with Windows 10 or 11, or a Mac with an M1 chip or newer. Older Windows (7, 8) and Intel Macs aren’t supported yet. Low on space — plug in an external drive.
What if my computer is off?
Shots wait on your phone until the computer is back, and the app shows how many aren’t copied yet. Turn the computer on — copying picks up where it stopped. Until then, don’t delete those shots by other means.
What if a drive dies?
If you haven’t freed up space, the originals are still on your phone. If you have, and the archive drive fails with no other copy, those photos are lost. Add an external drive as a second copy — Freemora keeps it up to date — and keep the most important photos somewhere else too.

Will freeing up space also delete photos from Google Photos or iCloud?
Yes, if sync is on: the phone and the cloud are linked, so deleting on one removes the shot from the other. Then your computer may hold the only copy. Before freeing up space, add an external drive as a second copy or turn sync off.
Does the space free up right away?
The button removes only what Freemora has verified on your computer. Deleted items first go to the trash for about 30 days — “Recently Deleted” on iPhone, the trash on Android — and the space is fully freed once the trash is emptied. After that, deletion can’t be undone.
Does it work away from home?
Yes — through the Freemora bridge. Encryption runs from phone to computer, so the bridge can’t see your photos. Copying over mobile data stays off until you turn it on.
Which computers work?
Windows 10 and 11, and Macs with Apple Silicon (M1 and newer).
How is Freemora different from Immich or Syncthing?
Immich is a strong open-source project, but it needs your own server with Docker and at least 6 GB of RAM. Syncthing syncs folders: without extra setup, deleting a photo on the phone deletes the copy too. Freemora installs in a couple of minutes with a QR code and only copies, checking every file. Why do Windows and Android warn me when installing?
They warn about any new app that isn’t from their store or signed with a paid certificate yet. Freemora is in beta and not in Google Play or the Microsoft Store yet. Your photos don’t go to our servers — they travel straight from the phone to your computer.
How much space do I need on the computer?
About as much as your photos and videos take on the phone — see Settings → Storage. During setup you choose how much to give the archive. Not enough — plug in a 1–2 TB external drive.
What happens to my photos if I uninstall Freemora?
Nothing. The originals stay on the phone, and the copies stay on the computer as ordinary files in folders by year and month — they open without Freemora.
